Immunization Requirements

IMPORTANT: In June 2019, the New York State Legislature amended the state’s laws governing immunizations for school children. This amendment eliminated religious exemptions from immunizations and took effect immediately. All students must receive immunizations as required by New York State Health Law, unless the student’s parent/guardian can obtain a certification from a treating physician that the required immunization(s) would be detrimental to the child’s health.

Please note that students not meeting ALL immunization requirements will not be allowed to attend school (in person or remote) beyond 14 days at the commencement of the school year or their date of entry, without proper evidence that immunizations have been satisfied.
The New York State Immunization Requirements for School Entrance/Attendance are listed online at https://www.health.ny.gov/publications/2370n.pdf.

The Onondaga County Health Department holds an Immunization Clinic every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center (421 Montgomery Street, Syracuse - Basement Level, Room 30).

  • Appointment Only. No Walk-ins Accepted.
  • The cost is $25 per person for one vaccine, or $30 per person if getting more than one vaccine. A sliding fee scale is available. Inability to pay is not a barrier to care.
  • Serves children 2 months to 18 years of age.
  • Please bring your child's shot records.
  • PLEASE NOTE: This clinic serves people with public health insurance or no insurance. If you have private insurance, call your healthcare provider.
  • Call 315-435-2000 for more information regarding the Immunization Clinic.

Any questions on required immunizations and when they are due should be directed to the Health Office of your child's school.
