National AI Literacy Day – embracing the future responsibly
By Jason Clark, Director of Technology/Data Protection OfficerOn March 28, we celebrate National AI Literacy Day, an opportunity to recognize the growing impact of artificial intelligence on education and our daily lives. AI is quickly changing how we teach, learn and interact with information, making it essential for students, educators and families to understand and use these tools responsibly.

ChatGPT and other AI-driven applications help teachers develop lesson ideas, differentiate instruction and streamline administrative tasks. However, just like any technology, AI must be used thoughtfully, with an understanding of both its benefits and limitations.
As we celebrate National AI Literacy Day, we want to use this opportunity to also help our families and community members better understand the tools. The following resource from Common Sense Media, Helping Kids Navigate the World of Artificial Intelligence, encourages parents to explore AI tools with their children.
Please take some time to look through the article and use it to start a conversation about AI. As we continue embracing AI in education, let’s do so with responsibility, awareness and a commitment to protecting our children. Happy National AI Literacy Day!
