Budget priorities align with Vision2020: Brighter Together Budget priorities align with Vision2020: Brighter Together: On April 2, 2018 the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education adopted a $163,200,980 budget proposal for the 2018-19 school year. The proposed budget will be voted on by district residents on May 15. The budget proposal demonstrates the district’s commitment to student success by providing enhanced opportunities that align with Vision2020: Brighter Together. Vision2020 provides a road map to move the district forward in its mission of providing educational experiences and opportunities that inspire students to reach their individual potential as productive citizens. Nine North Syracuse Students Win Tech Awards Nine North Syracuse Students Win Tech Awards: Recently, nine North Syracuse students were honored by the National Center for Women in Infomation Technology.  NCWIT recognizes the accomplishments as well as the goals of young women pursuing their STEM-based dreams.  There were 29 winners and runners-up in Upstate New York; North Syracuse students accounted for 9 of the 29. The awards luncheon took place at the MOST on April 8, 2018. Two North Syracuse educators honored in Women of Distinction Awards Two North Syracuse educators honored in Women of Distinction Awards: Two North Syracuse Central School District educators were recently recognized in the sixth annual Women of Distinction Awards.  Sponsored by New York State Assemblyman Al Stirpe, Danielle Rausa and Karen Seamans from the North Syracuse Central School District, were among eight Central New York women honored at the March 24 ceremony.  The women were the only two recognized in the awards' education category. Rausa, a music teacher at Roxboro Road Middle School, conducts the band, chorus and various musicals. Roxboro Road Middle School students take part in Central NY Science and Engineering Fair Roxboro Road Middle School students take part in Central NY Science and Engineering Fair: Several students from Roxboro Road Middle School recently competed and presented projects at the 39 th Annual Central NY Science and Engineering Fair. The group of students was the first ever to represent Roxboro Road Middle School at the fair, which is sponsored by The Most and Lockheed Martin. Student participants from Roxboro Road Middle School were: Ethan Matthews, Ethan Haahr, Logan Monday, Joshua Dennis and Jackson Dufort. They all did a great job and represented the school and district very well. One student, Ethan Haahr, won Science with Honors and Science and Technology awards. Congratulations and great job!
Middle school FCCLA students participate in state leadership conference Middle school FCCLA students participate in state leadership conference: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students from Roxboro Road Middle School and Gillette Road Middle School recently attended the  New York State FCCLA Leadership Conference.  The conference provided students with the opportunity to interact with, and learn from other FCCLA students from around the state.  During the March 22 event held at the Double Tree Conference Center in East Syracuse , students engaged in various workshops such as: Your Digital Tattoo & Online Image , Traffic Safety , Dress for Success and a culinary demonstration. This was an outstanding experience for our FCCLA students and gave them the opportunity to showcase their leadership skills.

Role Reversal: Students Become Educator Role Reversal: Students Become Educator: Students at Cicero-North Syracuse high school normally spend their days learning in a classroom from their teachers, but yesterday they took on a different role. On Thursday, March 22, students from the board of directors for the Northstars Branch, a student-run credit union at C-NS High School sponsored by CORE Federal Credit Union, became educators and mentors for younger students in the district.   Eleven high school students spent the morning at Roxboro Road Middle School making interactive presentations to more than 800 students, and shared their insights on a number of important money management and consumer awareness topics. C-NS Students C-NS Students "Shoot for Loot" with CORE Federal Credit Union: Establishing good savings habits  recently paid off for North Syracuse Central School District.  Several lucky students who have been regularly saving money at the NorthStars CORE Federal Credit Union, their student run branch, had the chance to “Shoot for Loot” during halftime of the Friday, February 1 boys' varsity basketball game against Henninger.    Student winners were selected in a random drawing from all student savers and were given 60 seconds to make progressively harder shots (lay-up, foul shot, 3-point shot and half-court shot) for progressively higher prize amounts. C-NS Performance Engineering Team gearing up for Shell Eco-Marathon C-NS Performance Engineering Team gearing up for Shell Eco-Marathon: The Performance Engineering Team at Cicero-North Syracuse High School is a group of ambitious, hard-working students who meet every day after school and work together to build energy-efficient vehicles. This year, the team is designing and constructing a custom-made hydrogen fuel-cell car to compete in the Shell Eco-Marathon in Sonoma, California in April. The Shell Eco-Marathon is an annual, international competition where students of all ages are challenged to design and drive their own ultra-energy-efficient vehicle the farthest on one liter of fuel. Students selected for All-County Music Festival Students selected for All-County Music Festival: Twelve North Syracuse music students were recently selected to participate in the Onondaga County Music Educators’ Association Junior High All County Festival at Eagle Hill Middle School.  Students from North Syracuse Junior High School were Adriana Capato (alto Saxophone), Sabrina Clubine (flute), Ivy Dong (flute), Thomas Gilbo (vocal), Sam Ridgeway (trumpet), Nick Thelen (violin) and Jack Tschopp (trumpet).  Students from Gillette and Roxboro Middle Schools were Jeremy Budihardjo (cello), Christina Wagner (trumpet), Peyton Empey (violin), Madeleine Rodoski (violin) and Megan Miles (clarinet).  Congratulations to all of our talented musicians!  
Parent information regarding student keyboarding Parent information regarding student keyboarding: By the spring of 2020, New York State tests (Grade 3-8) will be computer based. This spring (2018), all 3rd and 4th grade students will complete state tests on the computer.   Next spring (2019), grades 5-7 will transition to computer based and the following spring (2020), grade 8 testing will be computer based. District students art on display at District students art on display at "Art in the Mansion" exhibit: Many students from the North Syracuse Central School District will have their art on display at Syracuse's historic Barnes Hiscock Mansion through February 1, 2018. There is a suggested donation of $5, which will be used to restore and preserve the mansion at 930 James Street in Syracuse. All families are welcome to attend and celebrate our students' artwork. C-NS student selected for CNY Future Leaders of Tomorrow Award C-NS student selected for CNY Future Leaders of Tomorrow Award: Congratulations to Cicero-North Syracuse High School senior Ava Breitbeck for being selected by New York State Assemblywoman Pamela J. Hunter (128th District) for a CNY Future Leaders of Tomorrow award . The awards are presented annually to students who excel in the classroom and provide community service. C-NS teacher Kim Linkinhoker, who nominated Ava for the award, said, "Ava has demonstrated leadership in so many ways. She recently stood in front of the Board of Education and spoke to them as an advocate for the district's Science Olympiad Team. She is involved in our 'Girls Who Code' organization, which empowers young women to become leaders in the fields of technology and computer sciences. This year, DJ has the support of all schools in the district and several community groups. C-NS student peer teachers at Cicero Elementary School C-NS student peer teachers at Cicero Elementary School: During the month of December, students from the Cicero-North Syracuse High School's block 3 Money and Banking class went to Cicero Elementary and visited the 3 rd grade classes of Ms. DeGennaro, Ms. Norris, Ms. Malcolm and Ms. Hill to read a book and do a lesson on money and finances.  Everyone had a great experience.
